GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The date has shifted before — it moved from a 2025 window, then to May 2026, before settling on November, but Take-Two has now tied its biggest revenue forecast ever to this exact date, which is the strongest signal a company can give that a launch is real.

There is no confirmed PC release date. Rockstar is following its usual console-first pattern, and if GTA 5 is any guide, a PC version could arrive roughly a year or more after launch. There is also no version planned for older consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One.

The map and setting: welcome back to Leonida

GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, a take on Florida, with the neon-lit Vice City at its heart. Vice City last appeared in 2002’s GTA: Vice City, so this is a long-awaited return for longtime fans, now rebuilt with modern detail — beaches, swamps, city streets, and everything in between.

Story and characters: Jason and Lucia

For the first time in the series, GTA 6 puts you in control of two main characters — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia is the first female lead in a mainline Grand Theft Auto game. The two are a couple caught up in a life of crime, and the trailers lean into a Bonnie-and-Clyde style partnership.
